According to data published by the US-FDA, some of the rare(less than 0.1%) adverse effects due to long term use of this drug are: Gastrointestinal Problems: Ileus (including paralytic ileus), megacolon (including toxic megacolon) Nervous system Problems: Loss of consciousness, depressed level of consciousness, hypertonia, abnormalities in coordination Hypersensitivity: Hypersensitivity reaction, anaphylactic reaction(including anaphylactic shock) Cardiovascular Problems: prolonged QT interval, Other ventricular arrhythmias(disturbances in heart rhythm), cardiac arrest Dermatological: Bullous eruption (including Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, and erythema multiforme), swelling over face, tongue, or throat, itchiness and hives
